I've probably mentioned this before as it's a favourite but tonight, I watched... again, the fabulous 'Will Smith' in the wonderful film 'Hitch'. This delightful film offers laughter, hope and charm which is just what you need on a Friday night and you also get to hear unused words like, 'guile,' I love forgotten words like, 'guile.'
You know that I have a bit of OCD, not the tidy kind, damn it, but the potentially germ encrusted kind, every time I have to touch a public door handle, if I can cocoon it in a tissue or paper, then, I do, if I can't, I grab at what I think is the least grabbed at point, i.e. high top or very bottom.
So, when my kitchen sink started to fall apart a couple of weeks ago, I did freak a little but managed to keep a lid on it, (on me, not the sink,) because I've had so many things break or just plain wear out recently, and it wasn't leaking, just didn't look pretty, so while it was on the radar, I wasn't overly freaked.
Earlier this week, I noticed water on the kitchen floor, in front of the sink units, I thought I must have somehow splashed and caused a slight spillage. The same happened on Friday and when I pulled my head out of the sand and actually got brave and investigated, the plumbing under the sink had also come apart and so I was experiencing drainage and germ overload.
You can imagine how freaked I was, the thought of all of those germs just escaping at will, dirty dish water free flowing through my cupboards into pots, pans, soaking through cloths.
After a worrying day, J and I checked out new sink units in B&Q and wondering how much the whole kit and caboodle would cost in the long run, my blood pressure rose. Later that evening, brother-in-law finished work, came over, assessed damage, headed to B&Q and came back with parts to fix broken sink unit.
I'm still washing and cleaning everything that was touched with the dirty dishwater but, could have been worse. Made me think about everyone who has been touched by flooding recently, mine was hardly a flood, nothing like a flood, can't even imagine what that must be like.
