Hello Sweets,
Well, this was the first full week back to work and I could tell you all the latest work news, but frankly, it's too depressing so I'll fill you in as we go along. No point in us both worrying is there?
Thankfully, I had Friday to look forward to. Bee had offered to come to the cinema with me on Friday, last Friday and plans can change and she was away last weekend and her return date is frequently movable so, even though she said she'd be home before Friday, I wasn't holding my breath. Anyway, Bee was true to her word and was in fact home by Tuesday. I managed to duck out of work early on Friday, diverted via the doctors to drop off a repeat prescription request then headed home to get ready. I got home at 2.05pm, Bee arrived at 2.10pm. Surprisingly, it takes much longer to get ready when someone is chatting to you constantly and wants lunch making, but we headed off on time and I wouldn't have changed a thing. I love a challenge.
We took our seats, lovely seats, seats far from the screen, which is best for both mine and Bee's eyes and necks, (yes we feel ancient and Bee has 20 years on me, I believe that makes me more ancient.) Anyway, we saw, well, I dragged a very willing Bee to see, (can I just say that I always choose and Bee always goes along with whatever film I pick for us to see, never questions it and always agrees that it was great, as the credits are rolling.) However I should add that I heavily argued that I had been waiting soooooo long for this film to be released, that I adored Ryan Gosling, explained why the post production had gone on for so long and didn't really give her any other option.
Anyhoo, yes it felt like an eternity waiting for "Gangster Squad" to finally come out but it was everything and more than I expected. As you know... huge Ryan Gosling fan, (obviously my intended,) and he was brilliant, a smooth, slick, smart arse character with a heart, the best kind. The film is an ensemble piece all brilliantly played by the gang... and Nick Nolte, who is kind of part of the gang. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and the script but at the same time, I couldn't stop thinking about how much Josh Brolin not only looked like his Dad but sounded like him too, it was like James had been cloned. Josh is a stand alone, great actor, it's only because we're familiar with his Dad that we see and hear the resemblance and I'm just fascinated by genetics. Anyway, great film, one to add to your list.
