Finally, summer appears to have arrived! Yesterday was a glorious day, 25 degrees and blue skies, just gorgeous, so you can imagine how elated everyone was to be in work. We had a big move around yesterday and I moved my belongings to my new desk and my new team. I had to fumigate the desk, not sure when it was last cleaned but at least I think the latest E.coli outbreak didn't originate from German salad but from my new desk. I'll clean it again on Monday, just to be safe. I struggled for ages to move a box file which was jammed between the legs of the desk, it was dark under there so I didn't realise that the box file was holding the desk up. The desk tilts to the left but the good news is that my screen also tilts to the left. I'll only be there for 8 weeks, then we move to the new building so I can cope until then, but, if the next time I see you I'm holding my head to the left, you'll know why.
I was under orders to call in at church yesterday on my way home to collect home made fish pie from B. As soon as I saw her, I knew something was wrong, she'd fallen in the kitchen and banged her head, hip and grazed both knees, went down like a ton of bricks by the sounds of it. The head thing was more worrying as she's on anticoagulants. I told her if she didn't feel well later on to call one of us. The bag containing the fish pie was suspiciously heavy and when I got home and unpacked, there was a bottle of wine inside! I'm so spoiled. Both were delicious by the way... not the entire bottle by the way.
Dragged myself out of bed this morning, jogged for 30 minutes, (arms and plies to follow later,) did a wash load which is now wistfully blowing on the line. I need to recycle, iron, vacuum with attachments, (I'm pulling a face now,) and cut the grass.
I nipped for some food shopping this morning and bumped into an old customer again. We usually see each other on a Saturday morning, wave and exchange pleasantries but we stopped for a proper chat this morning. He remembered my name and of course, I don't remember his due to dodgy memory syndrome, you'll have to get your thinking cap on, he was always lovely, he's tall, softly spoken, usually wifeless and he's well in his 70's now, I think his surname begins with "M." He said he hardly ever goes in now and misses, "the old days!" That's us by the way, I thought that was really sweet.
It's the final of Britain's Got Talent tonight, it hasn't been as good this year, after a week of semi finals, they probably could have put the good ones into just one semi final. Some of the acts are frankly embarrassing. Is this really the best we could get?
With the absence of Bondi Rescue from CBS reality, I've been giving Surf Patrol a whirl. It's not BR but it still illustrates what an amazing job these blokes do on a daily basis. I do have one tiny observation though, the voice over man sounds slightly, (by that I mean, a lot,) creepy. He wouldn't sound out of place doing voice overs for the Scream franchise should they choose to make a Scream 5.
My running after work drought is over, for now at least. My first day back at work this week was Wednesday, I only managed a rather feeble 10 minutes when I got home, but it was a start.
SJP was snapped wearing H&M sandals this week, what's the betting they are sold out by now?
Well, can't put it off any longer, chores in sweltering heat await me... oh joy.
